In Winter Tapestry I wanted to contrast the male ring-necked pleasant, a magnificent bird with his irridescent, multicoloured plumage to the female, who, in her own quiet way, is just as beautiful. The snowy background to the birds is derived from a scene near my home of that time - Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, but it easily could have been anywhere in North America or Europe.
Winter Tapestry was created for a private client as a commission, and subsequently chosen by Ducks Unlimited in 2000 as one of their art portfolio prints.
